"Orinoco crocodiles are native to Venezuela and Colombia, South America. Due to extensive exploitation for their hides, they are the most endangered New World crocodilian, suffering a population decline of over 80 percent within the last three generations.

The species is listed by the IUCN as Critically Endangered, and is in serious peril throughout its range. In the early 1990s, fewer than 1,500 non-hatchlings survived in the wild. Some estimate that the wild population may have been as low as 250 adults. Despite proactive conservation measures, declines and fragmentation of the population continues."

The Trip 35 is a 35mm compact camera, manufactured by Olympus. It was introduced in 1967 and discontinued in 1984. The Trip name was a reference to its intended market — people who wanted a compact, functional camera for holidays.

The Trip 35 was a point and shoot model, with a solar-powered selenium light meter. No batteries required! This baby was "green" when green still meant the color green. How cool is that?

Jim and I are taking a step back ... into film photography ... again. Most of my experience with film has been point and shoot snapshots, while my son was growing up, in the 80s.

In the early 2000s, I made a more serious effort with film photography. I gave it up after shooting five rolls of film in one evening and keeping maybe five photographs.

In 2009, I bought a few old 35mm rangefinders because digital rangefinders cost so much. Those results were not too bad but I upgraded my Canon Rebel XT DSLR with a Rebel T1i DSLR in May, same year.

I have enjoyed the T1i so much that shooting film went back to the back burner ... again. When I decided to try film again, I bought Rebel Ti 35mm, which hopefully will make the learning curve less steep for me.
